Good news for waterwheel project
Date: 22/06/2011. Story submitted by: Anne Greaves
The Kelham Island hydro project has moved a step closer to realisation today after some great news from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Sheffield Renewables and Sheffield City Council have reached the final stage for funding approval from the ERDF after submitting proposals to develop hydro power schemes at Kelham Island and the Jordan Dam.
If the team is successful in their bid, they could be eligible for more than £500,000 in funding which would go towards the two hydro power projects and operating and growing Sheffield Renewables.
Mark Wells, Sheffield Renewables' Treasurer, said: "This is brilliant news - we take it as a strong vote of confidence in our energy projects and Sheffield Renewables itself."
Further information about the Kelham Island scheme is available on the Sheffield Renewables website.
