‘Get Active to Beat MS’ is the theme of an awareness week starting on Monday, in support of people diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

People across Barnsley are being encouraged to ‘get active’ on behalf of those who are unable to do so.

The MS Society says more than 100,000 people in the UK have the condition, and more women than men are diagnosed with it.

Barnsley’s own branch of the MS Society offers support to individuals and carers, offer respite-care breaks, exercise and social activity groups.

And you can learn more about MS and how you can support the work of local branches at an information stand at the Central Library.

Wendy Lowder, from the council’s adult social services, commented: “Barnsley Libraries are pleased to be supporting this event – if you or a family member has Multiple Sclerosis or you know a neighbour of friend with this condition, visit the library and help people get active to beat MS.”
