As voters go to the polls on May 3, local man and ex-policeman, Jack Clarkson, will be contesting the Stocksbridge ward for the Lib Dems.

Jack has been a city councillor for his local area of Stocksbridge and Upper Don for the last four years.

He has been campaigning against the Council’s two-thirds cut to the refurbishment budget of Stocksbridge Leisure Centre. Labour councillors voted to slash the budget last year.

Jack lives locally in Deepcar and is also a town councillor on Stocksbridge Town Council. Jack is well-known character in the community, following his 30 years' experience working within the local police force, including two years as a victim support manager.

As a former police officer, he values community safety and has taken action to stamp out anti-social behaviour in his area. Jack has also lobbied for new investment and development in Stocksbridge shopping centre.
