As voters go to the polls on May 3, local woman Diane Leek will be contesting the Walkley ward for the Lib Dems.
Diane, a born-and-bred Sheffielder, has been a local councillor for her local area of Walkley for the past 18 years.
She was first elected as a councillor for her local area in a sensational by-election in 1992. However, a technicality meant the election had to be re-run and Diane, a local dinner lady, was returned with a thumping majority.
Almost two decades of service later, Diane is well-loved locally and is known for fighting to improve playgrounds, open spaces and pedestrian crossings across the ward. She is also credited with helping to save Walkley library.
Diane is also a Governor at Walkley Primary and Forge Valley Community schools.
She is also a member of a number of local groups including Friends of Ruskin Park, Walkley Recreational Trust and Sheffield Wednesday Community Trust.
