Diane Leek: 'Why locals should vote for me'
Date: 29/04/2012. Story submitted by: F Campbell
Campaigns are underway across Sheffield for the local elections which are taking place this Thursday.
There are six candidates standing in the Walkley Ward. I invited each of them to tell locals why they should vote for them.
This is what the Liberal Democrat Party candidate Diane Leek said: "I was elected in a unique second by-election in 1993. Since then I have seen a lot of changes and dealt with a variety of enquiries. Whether it be housing, planning, schools, parks, highways, traffic issues, open spaces or personal problems.
"I hope that local people recall the many things that I have done in the past. My first campaign of Saving Walkley Library and safe-guarding local spaces on Bell Hagg Road and Lower Walkley Green. Ensuring that Rivelin paddling pool was never closed and is about to have a face lift. Improved the Bolehills, Ruskin Park, Ponderosa and Philadelphia Gardens.
"The crossings outside Walkley Library, Rivelin Valley Road, Whitehouse Lane, Burgoyne Road. Supporting our local shops in whatever way I can on South Road, Upperthorpe, Langsett and Infirmary Road. Being on the boards of tenants groups, Friends groups, local schools. Plus much more.
"I hope the electorate feel that I have listened to what they have asked for and done my utmost to deliver those requests. That local people believe I will continue to fight their corner and get the just rewards they deserve."
