Sheffield Wednesday won automatic promotion to the Championship when they beat Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 at Hillsborough.
Goals from on-loan pair Michail Antonio and Niles Ranger gave Wednesday the victory which ensured they finished above arch-rivals Sheffield United in the table.
A sell-out crowd witnessed the action unfold and fans streamed onto the pitch to celebrate at the end of the match.
The pitch was finally cleared to allow the Wednesday players to do a lap of honour.
Sheffield United could join Wednesday in the Championship but they must do it the hard way via the play-offs.
