Rotherham student scores a top trip to Italy

A Rotherham student is packing his bags and heading for Italy after scoring a top trip courtesy of Sheffield United.
Nineteen-year-old Louis McCarthy, an apprentice at Sheffield United who is studying a NVQ 2 Retail Apprenticeship at Rotherham College of Arts and Technology will be heading to Italy after being chosen to visit the the football club’s sponsor, Macron. While there he will see what working methods they use and how it can help him in his role as an apprentice.
Louis, who was also named the college’s Apprentice of the Month, said: “This will be an amazing experience for me. I will be looking at how they manage and distribute their merchandise and see how it differs from the way we work. I am looking forward to the trip and to use any techniques I learn in my place of work here at Sheffield United.”
Macron is Italy’s technical sportswear brand and is the official supplier to the English Football League as well as many professional teams across Europe.
Rotherham College in partnership with The Coalfields Regeneration Trust and the National Apprenticeship Scheme are currently offering employers financial support to help recruit apprentices.
