Charity strikes it lucky with Westfield

A national charity that supports people with visual impairments has been bowled over by Westfield Health’s 13 years of support.
More than 60 bowlers of all ages and abilities will take to the lanes of Firth Park Bowling Centre in Sheffield on Saturday, May 12 2012 for the British Tenpin Trios Championships, organised by British Blind Sport. Players will also attend a celebratory dinner and awards ceremony at The Copthorne Hotel, Sheffield, where teams will be presented with trophies and medals.
The event is the one of the highlights of the sporting calendar for British Blind Sport, a charity that enables blind and visually impaired people to take part in sport and recreational activities.
Westfield’s support has enabled British Blind Sport to invite more players than ever before to participate in the 2012 competition and to stay in top-class accommodation at the Copthorne Hotel following the glitzy awards ceremony.
Alaina MacGregor, Chief Executive of British Blind Sport, said: “Westfield Health has been a loyal sponsor and enthusiastic supporter of the charity, which is an integral part of the success of the event. The support given to our tenpin section from Westfield during the past 13 years has enabled many blind and visually impaired people to enjoy the sport.
“Being visually impaired can often lead to isolation and loneliness but sporting events like this enable people to make friends and have fun, a benefit which cannot be underestimated. Westfield’s sponsorship has enabled the event to grow each year and we are looking forward to the camaraderie and friendly competitive spirit at this year’s event.”
Graham Moore, Chairman of Westfield Health, will be presenting trophies to the winning teams at the awards dinner. He said: “Westfield is proud to be associated with such a worthwhile charity. I look forward to attending the event every year and I wish all the participants the very best of luck.”
