A local community group has organised an exploration of Kelham Island on Saturday (12 May).
The workshop aims to unpick the ‘hidden coding’ of the area by comparing the experience of walking around Kelham Island with numerical data that is usually hidden from our eye.
The focus is on ways of interpreting the city and the workshop aims to answer the following questions:
What draws you to particular elements of the city?
Why do you feel uncomfortable walking down a particular stretch of the road?
Why are there streets where one side is derelict and another is full of new developments?
The workshop has been organised by the Shalesmoor, Kelham Island and Neepsend Network (SKINN) and PlastiCities, a team of academics and researchers from the University of Sheffield.
It is open to everyone over 18 years of age who has an interest in Kelham Island and the surrounding area.
12:00pm start. Lunch is provided and the event is free of charge.
Registration is required, click on the links below for more information.
