Rivendell Cottage at AstonSubmitted by: SuzanneRutter
A ‘breathtaking’ 300-year-old cottage in Sheffield has come onto the residential market after undergoing 30 years of extensive renovation work.
Rivendell Cottage at Aston was once three farm labourer’s cottages, and current owner Vicky Greatorex has spent decades lovingly restoring and transforming the property without losing its historic charm.
Speaking to Postcode Gazette Vicki said: “It is a beautiful, breathtaking property and I will be very sad to leave. After 30 years of love and labour from both my husband and I, it’s time to listen to my head over my heart and downsize.
“I will miss everything about the cottage, it has given us the perfect family life for many years and I’m sure it will do the same for another family.”
Vicki and her late husband worked hard to ensure that the property kept all of its original features including the wooden ceiling beams and the extensive landscaped gardens.
One of the main period features within the grounds is the original bell shaped well at the bottom of the garden.
“There’s so much history here that it’s hard to put it into words. When inside the property you get a sense of times gone by, history literally wraps itself around you, it’s wonderful” she said.
Rivendell Cottage is on the market for £350,000 through Blundells Estate Agents. For more information or to arrange a viewing call 0114 2484444.
