Students are being joined by a local MP to clean up war graves in Walkley Cemetery tomorrow.
Paul Blomfield, MP for Sheffield Central, will be working with pupils from Heritage Park Community School to clean up some of the graves.
The students launched the ‘Who Cares?’ project after seeing pictures of overgrown war graves.
Teaching assistant Wendy Bolton said: “We’re extremely proud of the focus and determination our students have had to give something back to the community.
“All too often young people can be seen to be part of a problem but with patience and guidance young people can learn new skills and understanding which encourages them to be part of the solution.
“Our belief is to never underestimate the ability of young people.”
Mr Blomfield added: “I’m really impressed by the care and commitment that the students have shown.
“Tidying up the war graves is an inspiring way of putting something back into the community and I’m pleased to be joining the students.”
