More than 3,000 people have signed-up to take part in the Bupa Great Yorkshire Run, which takes place in Sheffield on September 2.
It will be the sixth-year of the 10K race, which includes both amateur and professional runners from across the country.
The Bupa Great Yorkshire Run will start on Arundel Gate, before heading along Penistone Road to Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough stadium, finally returning to the city centre.
Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity will again be the regional charity for the event and Diabetes UK is the nominated national charity.
Runners and spectators will be able to enjoy a number of live music performances across the course, as well as in the city centre, as Bands on the Run returns for the event day.
John Mayock, event organiser for the Bupa Great Yorkshire Run, said: “We are in an Olympic year and the Bupa Great Yorkshire Run will take place just after the London Games have finished. I’m sure everyone will be feeling inspired to put those trainers on and complete the 10K course through the streets of Sheffield.
“Runners can enter either on their own or as part of a team through the Business Challenge, while the War of the Roses will again prove popular between entrants from Yorkshire and Lancashire. Yorkshire has won for the past two years, so we expect competition to be fierce yet again.”
Entry is £27 for adults, while youngsters can sign-up to the 2012 Bupa Junior and Mini Great Yorkshire Run for just £9.
The Bupa Junior and Mini Great Yorkshire Run will take place on the same day as the main event (Sept 2) and involve a city centre route. Youngsters aged 3-8 can take part in 1.5k Mini Run, while the 2.5k Junior Run is for ages 9-15.
