A well-known Rotherham consultant has retired after working for 25 years as a joint specialist.
Dr Mary Holt, consultant rheumatologist, has retired from The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (TRFT). She started the role in 1987 and contributed heavily to the development of rehabilitation services for patients with head injuries.
Dr Holt also set up a paediatric rheumatology service and an osteoporosis and bone health service at the Trust.
Dr James Maxwell, rheumatology consultant, said: “Dr Holt’s contribution to the department and to the Trust has been immense, she will be greatly missed by all her colleagues and peers.
“She is highly respected by others within the Trust and by patients and her determination and dedication to the service has been inspirational.”
Dr Holt has also gained an influential national profile and has been the UK lead in a major European-funded research project.
Dr Holt is looking forward to enjoying hobbies such as painting, cooking, writing and learning to play the violin.
