More than 10,000 people are expected to attend the three-day music festival in Barnsley between Friday August 10 to Sunday 12.
Over 15 UK bands, local singers and musicians will play indie, rock, folk and roots at the Shindig Festival held in the picturesque setting of a woodland clearing at Silverwood, near Silkstone.
Event organiser Jim Garside and colleague Alex Dobbin organised a couple of smaller Shindig Festivals eight years ago at the Penistone Showground.
Alex said: “We plan to make it an annual event and have reserved the site the same weekend for the next five years.”
Tickets have sold well across the UK with music lovers travelling from Hertfordshire, Essex, Cumbria, Lincolnshire and Lancashire to join local crowds.
And visitors can view online a state-of-the-art, laser-scanned image of the festival ground before they travel via the website shown below. It’s believed to be the first time an image of this quality has been made available to festival-goers.
Jim Garside said: “The 3D image of the site allows people to have virtual stroll around the beautiful green fields before they come on the day and see it all full of hustle and bustle.”
Entry to all three days costs £55. See festival website.
