There are just 100 days to go until Sheffield residents will be able to vote for a new South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner.
The election takes place on Thursday November 15 and the elected individual will take office one week later.
Labour has announced its candidate will be Shaun Wright, a Rotherham councillor for the past eleven years who is the current vice-chairman of the Police Authority.
The Liberal Democrats and Conservatives are yet to announce who they will be putting forward for the newly-created role.
The PCC will replace the county’s Police Authority and will take over the role of holding the police force and Chief Constable to account.
The Commissioner will also be responsible for deciding how to spend the policing budget, and will consult the public and victims of crime on community safety.
Their first priority will be to set the council tax precept and approve the Police and Crime Plan for 2013/14.
Closing date for nominations to become a PCC for South Yorkshire is October 19.
