Police in Rotherham are cracking down on bogus callers and one man has already pleaded guilty in court.
Curtis Smith, 21, from Cudworth, Barnsley, pleaded guilty to distraction burglary on a house in Nursery Drive, Catcliffe, in December last year.
He was remanded in custody and is due for sentencing at Sheffield Crown Court on August 29.
A further two men from Barnsley are due to stand trial in connection with a series of bogus caller distraction burglaries. They are both due to stand trial at Sheffield Crown Court in January next year.
The police have issued tips for residents to avoid falling victim to this type of crime.
They advise people to keep doors and windows locked and to double check the identitiy of any strangers who call at your home.
