Underbank Unitarian Chapel in Stannington will offer visitors a glimpse of the past with a historical artefacts display this weekend.
The chapel on Stannington Road will present material from archives of local historical importance, featuring programmes and photos of pantomimes from 1947-1951 (including pictures when the performances were by gas light).
Programmes from the 203rd anniversary of the building in 1945 will also be on display as well as the 300th year reopening of the chapel in 1952.
There is also a leaflet about the 250th anniversary of the opening of the building in 1743 and a leaflet about the 350th anniversary of the founding of the Chapel in 1652.
There will also be a list of Queens and Captains from 1945 – 2002 as well as photos of preparations for the autumn fayre, 'pickling nights' and flower festivals.
The display will include a photo of the clinic at Underbank schoolroom in 1939, old postcards and pictures of the Sunday school banner.
There are also photos of a trip to Sherwood Forest from 70 years ago, a walk from The Chapel to Hucklow, and Underbank FC memorabilia dating back to 1909.
The items will be on show in the schoolroom on Saturday September 8, 10am-4pm and on Sunday September 9, 2-4pm. Refreshments will be provided.
