As part of the Sheffield Food Festival join expert guide, Professor Gareth Morgan for an evening of English wine tasting.
You will taste six different English wines which will include white, rosé, red and traditional method sparkling.
Gareth, who is a wine adviser at Ryedale Vineyards in North Yorkshire, will give explanations of the origins, the grapes and the methods of production.
In the last 15 years England has developed enormously as a wine-producing country with three million bottles per year, and the sparkling wines in particular winning awards as the best in the world.
Whilst most of the production is in the south, the warmer climate has led to several leading vineyards planted in Yorkshire and these too are now winning medals in competitions.
The tasting takes place in the Winter Garden on Friday from 6.15pm to 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £14 and can be bought by calling 225 5340 or emailing conference21@shu.ac.uk.
